Across the UK local communities have come together to increase awareness about Fairtrade and promote the FAIRTRADE Mark with the objective of meeting Fairtrade goals. If successful, they are awarded Fairtrade Town status - there are now hundreds of towns, villages, boroughs, cities and even islands involved in the Fairtrade Towns Initiative throughout the UK. The Fairtrade London Campaign aims to dramatically increase awareness and availability of Fairtrade products across the capital, in our homes, shops, cafés, workplaces, tourist venues, schools and colleges. London must meet ambitious targets before it can be awarded Fairtrade status. We're very nearly there and hope that London can become the world?s biggest Fairtrade City later in 2008. The London Boroughs of Camden, Croydon, Ealing, Kingston, Lambeth, Lewisham, Newham, Hammersmith and Fulham, Hounslow, Greenwich, Richmond, Islington, Tower Hamlets, Southwark, Sutton and Waltham Forest as well as the City of London have already achieved status. Campaigns are underway in other boroughs ? check the In My Borough section for details. Now help us to make London a Fairtrade City. London is working to become the world?s largest Fairtrade City. Across the capital, local campaigns have been established bringing together community groups, local authorities, businesses, schools and individual campaigners.
