Pura Vida

Imagine Costa Rica. A green paradise, diverse, dense forests and fertile lowlands full of exotic plants and animals, rivers and coastal waters teeming with life, skies alive with more bird species than all of Europe. Pura Vida!

Costa Rica: The Switzerland of Central America, politically stable, a world away from the poverty, oppression, violence and environmental destruction that have been the hallmarks of its neighbours in Central America…but away from the eco-tourism trail life is far from idyllic.

This film takes a journey to the banana and pineapple plantations of Costa Rica to reveal the devastating effect the chemical cocktail used to grow the fruit is having on workers, the neighbouring communities and the environment – and just so we can buy cheap fruit at our local supermarket.
